Lost and Found

Today is Cayley’s birthday. More on that later.

Tuesday night I took Elisha shopping to get his sister a present.

We’d done a round of the shop and picked up a few things, and wanted to head back to one area to swap something.

I knew where we were going, and Elisha exuded such confidence that he knew where he was going. He even announced, “I’m going this way,” and was headed in the right direction, but one row of clothes away from me.

And then he wasn’t there any more.

I wandered around for what felt like half an hour, staying mostly close to where I’d lost him, with a couple of dashes to where we were headed and to the toys section. Called his name more than once.

No Elisha.

Feeling panicky, I started making my way to the front to get the – “If you’ve seen this child can you bring him to his mother, she’s waiting by the front door” announcement made.

When I saw him. With a store staff member.

I called. He heard. He ran to me.

We hugged. We talked. I could tell he was shaken, but he wasn’t crying. He is growing up so!

And I was super proud of him. He was in trouble, and he did the right thing, and he wasn’t too scared to speak to a stranger to get help.

Mummy was shaken too. And she also wasn’t crying. But I think we were both pretty close.

The Shield

During the last school holidays, we took a couple of days trip to ‘The Farm’.

As often happens we didn’t leave as early as we thought we might, and by the time we were driving down the last couple of roads it was dusk.

Elisha said he saw a shield.

I was doubtful.

But he was adamant.

So the next day the kids rode their bikes (and trucks)

… all the way down the road to the corner, Elisha trying without his training wheels…

… then we walked the rest of the way to discover…

I should know better than to doubt Elisha’s ability to see (and with pretty much only one eye too!).

In case you’re wondering, it’s a wheel from a sulky used in harness racing.

We wheeled it back to the corner and leant it against a post; it was gone the next morning.

PS Don’t you just love the fact that Jos, driving his truck, had to wear a helmet too… just like Elisha and Cayley.

We all stayed to watch.

What’s Wrong In This Picture?

Take a moment to try and figure out what is wrong in this picture…

whatswrong1

I have to confess that these last few posts have been from quite some time ago.  Today’s photo is from the 11th of June!

But I am catching up albeit slowly.

Back to the photo.  Did you work out what was wrong?

How about a more obvious visual for you?

whatswrong2

Ooops!

Although, when I told him, he didn’t want to fix it.

Pictureless Post

Most of these posts of late have been me going through the photos and telling stories from them.

But I have some memories I’d like to record, and they’re pictureless at the moment.

In the week following his birthday Elisha discovered that he had a wobbly tooth.  He has been waiting and waiting for his teeth to start falling out, and he is beyond excited.  He is constantly wiggling it trying to get it to come out.  At one point he said to me, “Everyone in my family knows that I have a wobbly tooth, but not many other people know, but soon everyone will know.”  And boy, do they!  He even told his class for news today.

***

During the holidays I took the kids around to mum and dad’s a couple of times.  On one occassion my dad, who’d had a tooth removed by the dentist the day  before, was showing of his battle wounds to Cayley.  She was appalled.  Then he waggled his false teeth at her.  Horrified.  He then moved on to give the performance to Jos.  I was talking to Mum and watching Cayley out of the corner of my eye; as Dad was giving Jos the show, she was backing away from him into a corner, and yet not taking her eyes off him.

And then, his false teeth fell out.

And Cayley fell over backwards.  She got such a fright!

It was hilarious.  I still laugh thinking about it now.

I know that there were more stories than that to tell, but my mind has gone completely blank.  Guess I’ll be leaving it ’til another time.

We Love Lego

Here in the Adams’ household, we LOVE lego.  Just ask Brett, he even has his own special Star Wars set.  But once the kit has been built, and pulled apart several times, the pieces end up in the rather large container of lego that we own.  And that’s when the real creativity sets in.

Now over to Elisha.

This ship is the first made by Zoinks Droid Shark.  It can shoot from the back and front.  The net can catch three or two people in one go.  The generators create a ginormous shield.

lego1

This is the second powerfullest ship.  Those things at the back can shoot and create a shield at the same time.  The front things are if they go in mine they are safe.  The man has special protection because the frying pan he can fry bullet pancakes and throw them at people, bad things and explode them.

lego2

Lego ship three is the smallest and its only two powers is to blow up things and to give people good hopes.

lego3

This is the master ship.  It has a pet name “Scooper” because it looks like the digger on the front of a digger.  It can also go through mines, but it has to go through the back.  They’ve got four people in it.  It’s got a little thing which looks like a key.  It’s actually a crystal that can freeze anything.  And they’ve got this little scooter.

lego4

And let’s go over to Cayley now.

It’s got grass for the animals, because it’s got animals in its ship.  One of the people are the look out with a gun.  And some of the people are dead even though their heads are still on.  And when they go out, they have their jets on.  And the tow-truck piece is to stop the tow-trucks from coming in.  Also they can splat invisible jam and vegemite onto people’s heads.
