Helped out with an afternoon tea for a wedding earlier this month. I made 100 mini bruschetta.

Easy and tasty.

Our very first family night. It was great. I hope I manage to do a few more!
First we picked up Daddy and drove to Faulkner Park in Belmont. This was where we revealed the theme of the night to the kids… Volcanoes. We’ve been to this playground before, but the volcano has been repainted, and the water misters in the volcano were working too… looked like steam coming out of it!
Though I took heaps of photos while we were at the park, Elisha and Cayley just wouldn’t stay still in the volcano, this is pretty much what most of the photos look like.

Then back past work to drop Brett off to get his car. When we got home Cayley and Elisha had a quick bounce on the trampoline while I put the finishing touches on dinner… then back into volcano mode.
This was waiting in the sandpit.

I had this.

Mix them together and you get this.

They loved it…

And it worked for ages… I had to go get the bottle of vinegar so we could keep going!

Shower time while I finished dinner… volcano dinner of course

With molten cheese and lava sauce.

What’s a volcano dinner without a volcano dessert?
Ice-cream (or sorbet if you’re dairy intolerant!)

Ice magic…

Strawberry topping

Yum!

We also had volcano drinks (spiders), but I neglected to get a picture of those. We had a really great time together. The park was fun, the bicarb/vinegar volcano was very exciting, dinner was eaten with no complaints, they couldn’t eat all their dessert and were very grateful for the special drinks. We watched some YouTube videos of volcanoes errupting and lava flowing.

Jos loves his older siblings. Especially his big brother. Some days he follows him around everywhere. This was one of those days.

Elisha does so well looking after his little brother. Especially considering that sometimes the attention is unwanted.
I love you both so much!

Have kept track of some of Cayley’s classic comments over the last couple of weeks. Seeing as I can’t get my photo editing software to work I’ll share these instead of a pretty picture.
#1
Tara: “I’m brushing the knots out of your hair.”
Cayley: “Are they on the carpet now?”
#2
Coming back from the beach she decided to roll in the sand while wet instead of staying clean. Then the performance started while walking back to the unit.
Cayley: “I’m saaaaaaaaaaandy! I’m alllllllllllllllllll sandy! I’m the sandiest girl in the world!”
#3
Cayley can spell.
Cayley: “I can spell mummy… ‘eh’, ‘d’, ‘see’… mummy. I can spell bear too… ‘eat’, ‘aytch.”

We’ve been away for almost two weeks in Busselton. Had a most wonderful time. Lots of holiday type activites and not too much of the normal mundane life. Perfect.
It is nice to be home though.
Hopefully some photos coming soon.

I took Elisha, Cayley and Jos’ to the Rossmoyne foreshore with my parents and brothers tonight to the New Years Day celebration put on by the Lions’ Club. It was fantastic.
It was also the childrens’ first exposure to fireworks.
Elisha was VERY impressed, and raved on about it non stop from the time it finished til the time we left him tucked up in bed.
